Time flies . . .

when you're having fun!

Eight years ago today I made the best decision of my life - I married David. I've never met someone who plays as hard at Transformers, Batman and dinosaurs as his boys do. Nor have I met someone who is so self-disciplined and ambitious that they can be a great dad & husband while working a full-time job while also going to law school until 9:30 at night and then studying/preparing for the next night of classes until midnight. David always has our family first and is always helpful when I'm stressed out about the boys and just need an hour or two to myself.

Eight years ago there were threatening rain clouds, groomsmen filling their flasks, PopPop worrying about his grass, and a bride, well, a bride ready to get the show on the road.

It did rain. It poured during our service and, thankfully, just sprinkled during our reception which was outside. It didn't last long and soon enough the bar was packed, the band was playing, and the dance floor was crowded. I love to dance and I think I spent about 75% of my time on the dance floor. Of course, there was that one time when I was on stage singing. It was a great party - ugh, I mean reception.

David and I drove off in the yellow volkswagon to stay in Columbia for the night. I can not for the life of me remember where we stayed but it was in 5 points in a cute little inn. We flew the Mexico the next morning and proceeded to veg out the rest of the week on the beach with frozen, fruity drinks being brought to us. David discovered the lunch buffet and soon found out that if he swam with a sub in his hand underwater then he got some great snorkeling photos of the tropical fish.

It went too fast but every day was fantastic. We came home and moved in together on Rutledge Avenue. We spent our first year of married life fighting the roaches inside our house and the mosquitoes outside of our house. At first glance, the house looked like a cute Charleston shot-gun house. In reality, it was a dump. No amount of paint could cover the real problem - the house needed to be completely renovated or torn down. After a year, we built on our house on Johns Island where we have been for 7 years and 3 kids.

Lots has changed in the 8 years that we've been married. We've added three kids & a dog. We bought a house. David got his Ph.D. and next year will have his J.D. and I quit teaching to stay home with the boys. Life is busy but I wouldn't trade it for the world.

Who knows what next year will bring when David graduates?

*not many professional pictures from our wedding because our photographer double-booked and, unfortunately, for us we were the 2nd couple to book so we got some terrible old-man photographer who obviously had trouble focusing and, on top of that, he even got my name wrong on my wedding album. It reads "David and Anne". Geez Louise!
