We had Hughes' 3rd birthday party this past Saturday. It was a huge success! There weren't many battles over the swings or the slide. The weather was beautiful. We had lots of friends and family over to celebrate but, unfortunately, the birthday boy just couldn't keep his eyes open. He made it the first 20 minutes. He woke up or rather I woke him up at the end of his party. He is a boy who needs his nap!
So, the party continued! Banks enjoyed hosting everyone in Hughes' honor and was glad to accept the presents on Hughes' behalf.
At the party, we had homemade ice cream sandwiches which were a huge hit and delicious! Mom, in tradition, decorated the birthday cake.

Conley enjoying a sandwich. He came and got one for his mama, too. She's pregnant so I thought I better give her one.

Lucius (Kent's son) enjoying the dump truck.
Swing Time - you'll notice Hughes in the ladder line. This was taken at the very beginning of the party. He soon collapsed onto David.
Dominic, neighborhood friend, enjoying the swing. He sang Happy Birthday to Hughes all by himself. He had been practicing.
Wyatt and Clayton ready to slide.

The giant suckers were the party favors (thanks Ashley for the idea). There were a few guests still here when I woke Hughes up. We sang Happy Birthday to him, blew out the candles, ate cake, etc. all in about 5 minutes. What little time he was awake, he had a blast. We opened presents that night after Banks and Kate (niece) went to sleep. It was perfect. Hughes didn't have to compete with anybody else and he got to really focus on the gifts. He got some fantastic gifts and really appreciate everyone for coming and celebrating with us.
